You can customize the text and language you use in your poll by using a language pack. This only applies to embedded polls that are placed inside other pages. By embedding the poll you can change the language to any language you wish or just change the default English wording. You can change the language used in direct links to polls by selecting the appropriate language but you cannot change any of those translations.
Embedded Polls
To get started, edit a poll and click on the Edit Language tab:
This page allows you to edit the language strings. You can use existing language settings as a basis for your new language. It can be a custom language setting youalready created or one of the default Crowdsignal settings for different languages.
Edit your new phrases as you see fit:
At the end of the page, you must enter a name for your language setting. If there’s one there already, then you’re editing a custom language. Updating the name of the language settings will rename the language settings. It will not create a new language settings.
Any polls using the changed language settings will be rebuilt. Reload any pages containing embedded polls to see the changes.
Default Phrases You Can Modify
The Language Pack page contains a host of fields that you can edit. These fields correspond to phrases used throughout the poll. Here’s a list of fields you can edit:
Phrase: ‘View Results’
This phrase is used in a link to allow the voter to see the poll results without voting.
Phrase: ‘Thank you for voting!’
This phrase is shown to the user once they have voted.
Phrase: ‘Return To Poll’
This phrase is used in a link to allow the user to return to the poll once they have voted.
Phrase: ‘Other:’
This phrase is shown beside the “other” box in polls where you allow the user to enter an answer.
Phrase: ‘Thank you, we have already counted your vote.’
This phrase is shown when a person tries to vote a second time in a poll that blocks repeat voters.
Phrase: ‘Total Votes:’
This phrase is shown in front of the vote count for each poll.
Phrase: ‘Votes’
This phrase comes after each answer’s number of votes on the poll’s results screen.
Phrase: ‘Poll Closed’
This phrase is used if you close your poll.
Phrase: ‘Please choose an answer First’
This phrase is shown to the user if they try to submit a vote without selecting an answer.
Phrase: ‘Comments’
This phrase is shown, if comments are allowed, in front of the comment count for each poll.
Phrase: ‘Share This’
This phrase is used for the link that brings up the sharing box on your poll.
Here’s a sample poll embedded in a web page with a French Language settings applied. Note that the links in the bottom of the poll are no longer in English by default—they match the phrases we set up in the French Language pack:
Direct Polls
The direct link to your poll can be customised to show a different language when loaded. The languages are already defined and cannot be modified. Click on Collect Votes and then Direct Link and choose a different language from the dropdown menu.
In this example the URL of the poll will be changed by adding “-it” to the end and it will appear like this when loaded:
