The Applause block is a convenient way to let your audience express their appreciation anywhere inside a WordPress post. It’s a Gutenberg block powered by the Crowdsignal Forms plugin, and you can add it directly to your post from the WordPress editor with just a few clicks.
Here’s an example of the Applause block in action.
Getting Started
First, you’ll need to install the Crowdsignal Forms plugin on your site. Then you’ll be ready to add your first Applause block.
- Create a new post in the WordPress editor. Please note that the Applause block can currently only be added to posts, not pages.
- Click the ( + ) sign, or initiate the block search by typing / and searching for “applause.”
- An applause button will be added wherever you’ve chosen to insert the block.
Block Toolbar
The Applause block has the following options in the toolbar:
- Change block
- Move block up or down
- Change the size of the Applause block to use a small, medium, or large button
- Change the thickness of the border line around the buttons, and the roundness of the corners
Block Settings
You will find additional block settings in the right sidebar when you click on the block.
Applause Block Overall Settings
Click the View results button to view the results on the Crowdsignal website.
Make sure to also set the Title of the Applause block in the block settings so that you can easily find the results on your Crowdsignal dashboard.
Use the Status option to set your poll to be open, closed, or to close it automatically at a specific date and time in the future.
Block Styling
Use the color picker to customize the Text, Background, and Border colors for your Applause block.
Select colors that will make the poll stand out and make sure to find a nice contrast for readability purposes. Accessibility parameters are built into the editor to warn you when the text may become illegible for persons with reading impairments.
